Job Description:


Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) is seeking an individual with a passion for healthcare planning, a high level of technical standards and a commitment to excellence to work with our Capital Planning and Redevelopment team. Reporting to the Director of Capital Planning and Redevelopment, as a Planning Lead you will participate in projects, which include Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC) funded Capital Projects, “Own Funds“Capital projects, and minor moves and renovations.

As a Planning Lead you will be required to manage multiple assigned projects concurrently from the early planning phases through to construction and occupancy, and you will have the following responsibilities:
  • Conducting meetings to gather program requirements from stakeholders and convey them to the outside design professionals;
  • Preparing sketch plans, and to-scale test fits drawings (by hand and on computer) to confirm stakeholder requirements;
  • Developing project schedules and phasing plans in conjunction with consultants’ and other stakeholders’ input;
  • Reviewing and commenting on design presentations, working drawings and specifications for completeness and accuracy with respect to RVH Project needs and best practice standards;
  • Coordinating submissions to the Ministry of Health Capital Branch, adhering to the Capital Planning Framework;
  • Managing all aspects of construction projects including scheduling, monitoring and approving progress draws and project Change Orders, and reporting the monthly on the status of the projects;
  • Participating in construction site meetings as the owners’ representative, and Conducting deficiency reviews on-site and follow-up with contractor;
  • Actively maintaining the as-built drawing library both in hard copy and electronic format;
As a qualified candidate you will have the following job requirements:
  • A degree or diploma in Architecture, Interior Design, or another related field with proven experience;
  • Five to seven years’ experience in the design or construction of healthcare environments with a demonstrated ability to liaise with hospital administrators, department heads and physicians in an attempt to minimize disruption to the current operating facilities during construction and identify the environmental factors that can affect patient safety or service;
  • In-depth knowledge of the requirements of the Ontario Building Code and CSA Standards for Healthcare;
  • Demonstrated experience working on Clinical Planning;
  • Have demonstrated experience working on Capital Planning submissions within the MOHLTC –LHIN Joint Review Framework;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, and AutoCAD is essential;
  • Knowledge of WSP Seawood FM Facilities Management Software, Nadine Facility Management Software and Knowledge of various Furniture Systems and Signage/Wayfinding System is an asset;
