Job Summary

The Rapid Response Support Worker provides administrative support and initial contact and temporary support to program clients. This position works as part of a team of Support Workers to assist clients who have experienced intimate partner abuse as they navigate the criminal justice system.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes a purposeful relationship with Foundry Works young people and supports their engagement and participation in Foundry Works services at a level identified by the youth.
  • Provides support, guidance and mentorship for youth seeking employment, training, education and/or volunteering and assists in sharing information on resources and accessing services.
  • Assists youth with the activities related to their participation in the Foundry Works program.
  • Works with Foundry Works participants 1:1 and in a group setting.
  • Accompanies youth to appointments in the community.
  • Leads or co-facilitates group services to promote skills development.
  • Works collaboratively with Foundry Works team to meet youth’s pre-established goals and objectives.
  • Works collaboratively with Project Lead/Clinical Coordinator and Vocational Specialist to develop and facilitate program needs and objectives.
  • Works collaboratively with community agencies and other employment programs to increase awareness of Foundry Works.
  • Completes and maintains related records and documentation including statistics, progress reports and care plans.
  • Participates in team meetings, case conferences and organizational initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education and Certification:

  • Satisfactory Criminal Records Check.
  • Completed Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Lived experience navigating barriers to employment, training and/or education or who have taken non-traditional paths towards achieving employment, training and/or education goals.
  • Completion of or eligible for completion of a recognized youth peer support training program, and willing to self-identify and share experiences.

Knowledge and Skill Set

  • Ability to establish rapport and maintain professional relationships with young people and identified allies.
  • Empathic, compassionate, with good listening skills and creative thinking.
  • Demonstrated ability to observe and recognize changes in youth and communicate those changes to others on the care team.
  • Conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills.
  • High degree of self-awareness and capacity to apply appropriate boundaries and maintain confidentiality.
  • Able to promote positive change and independence.
  • Self-starter with a positive attitude and able to advocate for self and others.
  • Broad knowledge of employment and education resources in the community.
  • Broad knowledge of mental health, substance use and social services available in the community
  • Knowledge of systemic issues and risk factors facing minatory groups including LGBTQ2S+, Indigenous youth and young adults.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Well-developed communication skills; ability to speak, listen and write clearly, thoroughly and professionally.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, accountability, reliability, and
  • Ability to work independently and show initiative, as well as be part of an inter-disciplinary team
  • Basic computer skills; experience with Office 365 (Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook).

Working Conditions

  • Proof of double Covid-19 vaccination required.
  • Occasional interactions with difficult people may occur.
  • Flexible workhours including into the evening are required.
