Overview:

We are looking for an experienced mortgage underwriter to join our growing team! The underwriter is responsible for applying due diligence when reviewing required documentation to ensure accuracy, and working with internal agents, clients, lenders, and lawyers to satisfy all outstanding conditions in accordance with FSRA guidelines. The right candidate must be able to effectively communicate with clients and explain complex financial concepts in layman’s terms.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external partners such as appraisers, lenders, and solicitors.

• Underwrite mortgage applications while ensuring company policies and procedures are followed and are in compliant with FSRA

• Manage pipeline while maintaining SLA

• Ensure due diligence has been completed prior to the signing of any mortgage commitment and/or other mortgage documentation.

• Educate clients on the qualifying process and criteria, and be able to justify the lender’s pricing decisions if necessary

• Stay current with the latest industry knowledge, competition, and market trends

• First point of contact resolution

Education/Certification/Experience Requirements:

• Completed post-secondary education or equivalent work experience required

• Mortgage License (preferred)

• Minimum 2 years previous mortgage underwriting experience required in the A, Alt-A and B and C
