Job DescriptionWood Canada’s Operations team are looking for an Industrial Mechanical Engineer to provide Engineering support in our Fredericton, NB, Office.
Wood has new and diverse Industrial projects in the Atlantic region, and we are looking for the right person to help develop and support the local Mechanical Team. The individual will be required to work on large and small projects, while supporting the team technically, and engaging in professional development.
This position requires a Professional Engineer that will be client facing, requiring the candidate to have and develop client relationships while representing Wood and Wood’s reputation in the industrial space.

Responsibilities
- Professional services – Act as a consultant to clients
- Manage, prioritize and complete design projects for various clients
- Provide guidance / mentorship and coordinate project work with other Engineers, Technicians, Designers and / or Drafters
- Assist in transforming preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering designs
- Conduct research, analysis, and recommend designs
- Troubleshoot, analyze, identify, evaluate, propose, implement, and document engineering solutions
- Collaborate with clients, suppliers, vendors, and other disciplines to gather information to write reports and complete mechanical design
- Establish continuous improvement plans where efficiency, quality, safety, or service can be improved
- Responsible for translating operational needs into detailed design requirements
- Support the development of project budgets and schedules
- Provide technical expertise / support / mentorship to the Wood Mechanical Team
- Provide technical direction to construction contractors in the mechanical disciplines and assess the quality of their work in the field
- Maintain and develop client relationships
- Participate in office, jobsite, and safety meetings
- Post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution with a Professional Engineer designation
- 10+ years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering
- Industry experience in Pulp & Paper, Utilities, Hydro Power Generation, Oil & Gas and / or Mining
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, codes, standards, and equipment to the design and production of various products
- Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
- Conducting oneself in a professional manner with honesty and integrity
- Good written and verbal communication skills (English)
- Ability to successfully prioritize, and organize projects, deadlines, and tasks with little supervision in team environments
- Experience with P&IDs, piping design (ISOs) and pumps
- Knowledge of material transfer methods such as conveyors and blowers
- Support a Safe work environment of risk and hazard management and lead by example
