Multiple Positions – Permanent and Temporary Opportunities

Temporary Length of Term: 1 year

Work Location: 100% in the office (Any of our Saskatchewan branches)

The successful candidates will be responsible for managing the day to day operations of Sask property claims. Manages claims handling activities, provides direction to frontline employees on complex claims and ensures that claims are investigated and settled in accordance with applicable insurance programs, policies, procedures and customer service targets. Responsible for staff located in their branch and elsewhere in the province.

Key Accountabilities

Claims Management
  • Manages the processing, investigation and settlement of claims, ensuring that corporate standards and procedures are followed and that claims are equitably settled.
  • Provides advice to employees on policy interpretations so that coverage can be approved or denied.
  • Investigates and provides input on head office and ministerial inquiries.
  • Consults with head-office/quality control subject matter experts on complex and large value claims.
  • Reviews and approves large loss audits and payments.
  • Provides technical advice and direction to employees, brokers and other internal divisions.
  • Reviews and responds to claims decision and denial requests.
  • Conducts claims reviews and audits.

People Leadership

Customer Experience Management
  • Manages, monitors and evaluates the customer experience, ensuring it meets divisional and corporate expectations.
  • Provides advice to employees on sensitive claims by intervening between the claimant and the adjuster where possible disputes could occur, investigating continuing disputes, upholding or overriding adjuster decision and/or taking corrective action when appropriate.
  • Advises and assists employees and customer on claims-related issues.
  • Ensures that customer service is provided in accordance with established claims customer service targets and assists in developing customer service initiatives.
  • Receives and resolves escalated customer inquiries and broker inquiries on a daily basis.

External Relationships
  • Develops and maintains relationships with external contacts, including agents, brokers, repair and restoration firms, independent adjusters, law enforcement, fire departments and/or medical, legal or expert consultants.
  • Develops and maintain relationships and effective communication with other internal business units.
  • Collaborates with Regional Claims Operations Management and Corporate Claims to leverage best practices, effectively manage workload and ensure consistent claims experience.
  • Reviews and continuously evaluates internal processes, automation and procedures to effectively meet service and production goals.

Program and Policy Development
  • Ensures that divisional plans and objectives are effectively communicated, understood and executed.
  • Participates in the development of branch plans, goals and objectives in accordance with divisional policies and procedures.

Corporate Management
  • Ensures programs and policies are in alignment with corporate, strategic and divisional strategies.
  • Manages risk in area of authority.
  • Prepares, reviews, manages and/or approves departmental/divisional budgets.
  • Prepares decision requests, decision and/or information items and/or SGI board items.
  • Ensures that the Health, Safety and Emergency Management Policy is applied in area of responsibility, including development, implementation and managing of program components specific to departmental health and safety requirements.
  • Makes decisions for departmental operations that are efficient, effective and in alignment with strategic direction and priorities.
  • Ensures department and program policies, procedures and guidelines are in compliance with applicable federal and provincial legislation and regulations; implements and evaluates changes to legislation and regulations in area of authority.
  • Establishes and maintains an effective system of internal controls to support reliable financial reporting and compliance in accordance with applicable laws and regulations within the span of control and communicates the importance of internal controls to staff.

Education and Experience
  • A four-year degree from an accredited post-secondary educational institution in a relevant field of study such as: Business or social sciences.
  • Eight years’ experience comprised of four years leadership experience and four years’ experience in claims adjusting.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Knowledge of the insurance coverages and benefits provided by the personal and commercial property business policy wordings.
  • Knowledge of personal and commercial property insurance theory and the principles, practices, methods and techniques related to the adjustment settlement of claims.
  • Knowledge of the corporation’s applicable lines of insurance.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of insurance.
  • Ability to analyze data to determine values, depreciation, repair or replacement costs; determine the degree of negligence; and/or determine the extent of quantum in liability claims.

Pay Range:$100,776.00 - $134,376.00
