Golder has a new opportunity for a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our Mining Process and Design team on a full-time basis based in Sudbury.

An Overview Of Your Role Will Include
  • Calculations, drafting, and 3D Modelling of mine infrastructure for the mechanical discipline group which involves:
    • Design/Drafting of Equipment and Plant layouts
    • Piping Layouts and Isometrics
    • P&ID and Process Flow Diagrams
    • Ensuring models and drawings are in accordance with applicable standards
  • Visiting client facilities at mine sites
  • Reviewing laboratory test work and applying the data to equipment selection
  • Assist with performing conceptual, feasibility and detailed mechanical design work including equipment and piping specifications, and plant layouts
  • Performing material balances and process control descriptions
  • Preparing, writing, and reviewing proposals, and project reports
  • Interacting with clients and being responsible for project deliverables and client satisfaction
  • Coordinating with other disciplines and other Golder Associates groups
  • Participating in Golder’s Health & Safety program
  • Assisting with other project work as required

You Will Have a Background In
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with mining operations would be an asset
  • Ability to complete field and office work as necessary, which may involve work outside of normal business hours
  • Must be eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training in Ontario
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of programming language (e.g. VB, Python, or other) would be an asset
  • Demonstrates a ’Safety First" focus attitude and traits in line with Golder’s core values
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license
