Junior Business Analyst Role

Location: Vaughan, ON

Department: Accounting

Employment Type: Full Time

Reports to: Senior Analyst, Business & Financial Analytics

Position Overview

The Junior Business Analyst is responsible for the maintenance and development of various on-going projects, with initiatives related to the reporting of financial and operational metrics across different business divisions. The main functions are gathering, validating and documenting various system information needs to ensure that the information is properly evaluated and reported on.

The ideal candidate possesses an in-depth knowledge of relevant financial and operational reporting, as well as a clear understanding of accounting principles and company desired business objectives.

Key Functions & Duties:

  • Provide investigative documenting and analytical abilities to determine potential solutions from a technical and business perspective
  • Design, develop and perform periodic maintenance of Power BI Dashboards and MS Excel reports to capture and present operational and financial analytics
  • Provides support to the Sr. Business Analyst in collaboration with business units to document and gather requirements for workflow procedures
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to provide support and expertise in reporting, data management, and technical support
  • Work alongside the Accounting and M&A departments on projects as required
  • Participate in on-site client project meetings, as required
  • Willingness to acquire and develop functional & reporting skills on smaller ERP Programs (Jonas, TRUX)
  • Extraction, cleaning and preparation of data from multiple sources including TRUX, Jonas Software, and internal Datawarehouse (DWH)

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
  • Advanced level experience with MS Excel (with strong Pivot Table & Pivot Chart experience)
  • Working knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) and Data Analysis Expressions (DAX)
  • Understanding of Jonas & TRUX software is an asset
  • A natural aptitude for technology and a strong desire to expand on technical skill
  • Strong communication, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple priorities and tasks as delegated
  • Ability work in a creative technical work environment with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to draw on a number of creative and analytical options to solve problems and develop improvements.
