Overview:
Under the direction of the HR Manager, the HRIS & Total Compensation Specialist is responsible for managing payroll operations and HR administration for all divisions in North America for Danby.
Responsibilities:
1.Payroll Management
  • Supports Canadian and US payroll processing to ensure that it is administered biweekly on-time and accurately including year-end and accounting reports as required
  • Manage irregularities, answer questions, audit payroll
  • Manage auditors, internal and external, any audits by agencies
  • Ensure timely remittances to government and third-party agencies, CRA, IRS, US States and Counties. Set up new tax centers as required
  • Ensure appropriate documentation for payroll changes
  • Find and complete payroll efficiencies
  • Provide administrative support to employees (letter, inquiries, claims, forms)

2. Reporting
  • Labor budgeting and actual costs
  • Benefit costs
  • Total compensation and billing costs
  • People analytics reporting – turnover, overtime, headcount, issues and trends, accruals, commission, absence, etc.
  • Complete reports as required

3. Benefits
  • Administer Benefits programs (Health, Dental, STD, LTD, Tuition Reimbursement, Leaves etc.) for Canada and the US
  • Ensure employees and employer are paying and remitting benefit portions
  • Review pension remittance and reporting, ensure AIR and other mandatory pension reporting has been completed accurately and on time
  • Review WSIB and WC remittance and reporting, ensure annual reporting completed accurately and on time.
  • Annual review of benefit and pension brokers, review plans, costs, make recommendations and implement benefit changes that suit employer and employees

4. Compensation
  • Using PayScale and other resources determine job tasks and pay grade
  • Review and modify pay grades according to market
  • Review jobs to ensure jobs are in correct grades
  • Analyze compensation data looking for internal equity, external equity
  • Make recommendations based on performance and managers recommendations for increases

5. HRIS Management
  • Develop and implement new processes and systems for efficient HR management
  • Consult with HR manager and other departments to determine HRIS needs
  • Provide training and technical support to users
  • Creation of reports, maintaining data quality and overseeing database security (role setups, qualifiers, business rules, etc.)
  • Keeping track of technological advancements, updates, and offerings in UKG

6. Projects and Internal Efficiencies
  • Change Management
Qualifications:
Knowledge & Education Required
  • PCP, CPM or CHRP Designation is an asset
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Payroll and HR
  • Proficient with computer applications – Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Strong analytical abilities coupled with effective problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Experience with US withholding taxes and unemployment an asset
  • Dedication to continuous improvement
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
  • Experience with UKG Pro / Kronos an asset
  • SQL experience an asset

  • Highly motivated and self-directed capable of multi-tasking, and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Adaptable - able to respond quickly to changing ideas, responsibilities, expectations, trends, strategies, and other processes
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work in an organized, detailed, and accurate manner

Working Conditions

The HRIS & Total Compensation Specialist works in an office setting. Little to no travel to the US is required of the individual in this position.
