The Opportunity:

As an experienced and results-driven HR Business Partner, you will work directly with the organization’s senior leadership to develop and direct an HR agenda that closely supports our global sales and marketing goals. Reporting to the Sr. Director for People and Culture, you will be responsible for aligning our HR initiatives and functions with business objectives and business needs, aligning staff to business objectives, enhancing staff performance, supporting employee development, enhancing recruitment efforts, planning strategic HR initiatives, managing HR consultants, designing succession plans, and maintaining staff relations.

The ideal candidate for this role should have a good history in working within product development business functions and have an experienced tested sense of what and how to work with engineers, designers, and product management personnel.

The candidate must possess strong communication skills, good interpersonal skills, be a strategic thinker, but also be able to act tactically. And have excellent organizational skills.

The right HR Business Partner will utilize People & Culture initiatives to attract talented recruits, enhance and maintain staff morale, contribute to attaining business goals, and promote good P&C practices.

What you’ll be doing every day:
  • Consult with department leaders and provide daily HR guidance
  • Analyze employee trends and metrics with the HR department
  • Review and process reports
  • Maintain accurate records and compile statistical reports relating to personnel data, e.g. hires, transfers, absenteeism rates, and performance appraisal etc.
  • Monitor and report on workforce and succession planning
  • Resolve complex employee relations issues; perform E/R intake and investigations (escalate as needed)
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale and increase productivity and retention
  • Provide HR policy guidance; educate both current and prospective employees on company policies regarding job duties, working conditions, safety, wages, career advancement opportunities, employee benefits and programs and recommend changes
  • Identify training needs for teams and individuals and assist with training initiatives
  • Suggest new HR strategies and participate in continuous improvement of department and HR related processes.
  • Administer employee terminations and transfers.
  • Administer benefits, performance management programs and compensation.
  • Ensure effective exit interviews and provide management with analysis and recommendations.
  • Provide general information and assistance internally and externally
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned

What you bring to the table:
  • Minimum 7 years of work experience as an HR business partner and/or HR Generalist
  • At least 2 years previous experience working as business partner to software development business units
  • Highly organized
  • A University or College Diploma, preferably in business specializing in Human Resources, or equivalent
  • A CHRP/CHRL designation an asset
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Full understanding of all HR functions and best practices
  • Thorough knowledge of labor legislation and commitment to workplace compliance and standards
  • High level of personal integrity.
  • Strategic thinker, analytical, and goal oriented
  • Effective leadership skills
  • Demonstrable experience with HR metrics and reporting
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and strong ability to be able to handle tense, sensitive and confidential situations
  • Ability to de-escalate conflict
  • Experience with analysis and reporting
  • Conviction to improve personally and support continuous improvement
  • Strong work ethic and work maturity
  • Great attention to detail
  • Effective time management skills

Ideally, you also have experience with some of:
  • Experience with using HR tools such as Workday
  • Ability to conduct presentations
  • Experience working in a high-growth tech company
