Terraprobe Inc. is looking for a Geoenvironmental Engineer to join our team at our Brampton office. Employees will be involved in consulting, coordinating, and project managing soil and groundwater sampling programs, geo-environmental investigations, and other general due diligence works that will be primarily focused on infrastructure projects in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and surrounds.

Responsibilities
  • Participation in all facets of site development including geotechnical investigations, Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), and remediation projects. Includes project coordination or management, field sampling, and reporting.
  • Conducting field (data-collection) programs involving sampling and monitoring of soil, groundwater, ambient air, and soil vapor.
  • Conducting infrastructure project related to excess soil reuse management, planning, sampling programs, and reporting under Ontario Regulation 406/19, including the following key aspects:
    • Assessment of Past Use.
    • Sampling and Analysis Plan.
    • Soil Characterization Report.
    • Excess Soil Destination Report.
    • Implementation of Tracking Systems.
  • Planning, reporting, and tracking schedules and budget, all as part of project financial management.
  • Design, schedule, and conduct field studies;
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals for a diverse client group;
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and with internal and external project teams;
  • Create an environment for the effective and efficient performance of high-quality geo-environmental investigations with a focus on customer service.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical, Civil and/or Environmental Engineering, specializing in Infrastructure
  • Geotechnical or Environmental EIT, CET, or P.Eng.
  • A valid Province of Ontario driver’s license is required and access to own vehicle.
  • 3 to 5+ years of consulting experience in environmental, civil, and/or geotechnical engineering in Ontario or related fields.
  • Willingness and ability for limited travel and conducting some fieldwork.
  • Excellent knowledge and practical know-how of the Ontario Regulation 406/19 (On-site and Excess Soil Management), including excess soil quality standards, soil tracking systems, and documentation, Beneficial Reuse Assessment Tool (BRAT), and soil sampling and testing parameters and frequencies.
  • General knowledge of traffic impact studies, traffic safety studies, planning and feasibility studies, transit and road design, and other general infrastructure aspects.
  • Proven ability to learn and adapt software, such as GIS, CAD, and innovative new applications;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD;
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated skill in technical report writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform individually or as a member of project teams.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to manage concurrent priorities.
  • Ability to work with, supervise and direct employees and contractors.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, commitment to technical excellence, client care, and safe work practices.
