About The Role

We’re looking for a Director, Risk Management, to join our growing team!

What You’ll Do Here

• Oversee the governance of insurance risk and interface with senior leaders in the insurance business on insurance risk issues.
• Develop and maintain insurance risk policies and ensure implementation throughout the organization. Review other insurance risk-related policies (e.g., the reinsurance risk management policy) as required.
• Independently review and challenge the identification, measurement, monitoring and reporting of key insurance risks across the company.
• Assist leaders, as appropriate, in enhancing identification of key risk measures.
• Maintain a high-level risk register for insurance risks and follow-up on mitigation actions (i.e., hold lines of business to account for their mitigation plans or lack thereof).
• Work with the business lines to identify key underwriting limits and ensure alignment with corporate risk tolerances.
• Draft the section on insurance risk in the company’s Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) report.
• Conduct risk oversight reviews of business unit practices to ensure that policies, underwriting guidelines and pricing procedures.
  

What You Bring To The Table

• Bachelor’s degree or higher or any equivalent combination of education and experience
• 7+ years of experience in P&C insurance product development, underwriting, and/or claims
• Self-motivated team player with the ability to be flexible as the role evolves
• Superior written and verbal communication skills with the ability to contribute meaningfully to meetings with members of senior management
• Ability to challenge the status quo and influence change
• Commercial line experience, an asset
