POSITION OVERVIEW
The City of Maple Ridge is seeking an innovative, strategic and creative storyteller to join the Strategic Development, Communications and Public Engagement team to deliver consistent, compelling and contextual digital communications and engagement opportunities with our community. The incumbent in this specialized communications role designs, develops and maintains the City’s internal and external digital channels, including promotional materials, imagery, graphics, video, interactive communication and text publications. This position also supports Maple Ridge’s community engagement and information programs with multi-media assets including the development of surveys on the City’s approved platforms. Serving as a key point of contact within the department, the incumbent also works with internal and external stakeholders and consumers to help coordinate and implement a broad range of digital marketing, communications and engagement strategies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Diploma in communications, marketing, graphic design, web design or a related discipline plus considerable related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and materials and software used in the work.
• Ability to develop, produce and edit a variety of written and graphic content for digital channels.
• Sound knowledge of communications objectives and practices of the organization in relation to content for websites, public engagement platforms and related media.
• Ability to provide advice and recommend solutions, improvements and standards to improve web and online communications.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and write in a conversational tone.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts and to provide guidance and advice on matters related to the work.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, social media platforms operated in a business/professional environment, content management systems, and basic HTML/CSS coding.
• Knowledge of Google Analytics and ability to report on trends/findings.
• Experience maintaining web, digital engagement and social media channels.
• Commitment to anti-racism and inclusive excellence to apply an intersectional anti-racist lens to communications projects.
• Knowledge of public engagement principles and best practices.
