DIGITAL INNOVATION ADVISOR (12-MONTH)

MAXIMUM OF SALARY RANGE: $115,237.00 PER ANNUM

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Reporting to the IT Manager, Digital Innovation, this position works as part of a team accountable for the acceleration of innovation across operating divisions/departments and organizational activities, processes and models. To fully leverage the cutting-edge digital and IT infrastructure and their accelerating impact in a strategic and prioritized way, with present and future shifts in mind. Identifying and implementing opportunities to improve and achieve the goal of enhanced end-to-end customer/client experience and service delivery, operational flexibility and innovation. This position is a key enabler of connecting transformative initiatives and enabling operating divisions/departments along the digital transformation and change journey from the opportunity identification stage to the supporting implementation phase.

This role is responsible for collaborating with senior stakeholders on strategic technological reviews for digital transformational initiatives.

This role is required to champion digital business transformation as a journey with multiple connected intermediary goals, in the end striving towards continuous optimization across processes, divisions/department ecosystems in a hyper-connected age where building the right bridges between front end and back office, data of things, decisions, people, team and technologies is rapidly evolving.

Technological process analysis and configuration. Developing process modeling to deliver increasing value at each stage of the chain, and this can be achieved through a better flow of information, collaboration and automation. Documentation of technological gaps between current and desired end state processes; identify service/system process integration points, opportunities for innovation, simplification and automation. Collaborate and work with internal partners for digital innovation for the successful implementation of technological advancements.

Business Relationships.
Establish and manage effective cross-functional relationships in order to develop integrated operating division/department and technology digital roadmaps. Liaise with City employees at all levels to collect, translate and document current and future business requirements. Identify relevant emerging technologies and strategic trends which will maximize the potential of the operating division/department and align with the City of Brampton’s strategic direction. Prepare business cases, evaluate and recommend innovation management to meet emerging needs. Liaise with other public and private sector organizations, innovation labs and vendors.

Implementation and Support.
Support the operating division/department implementation of the change to ensure business requirements, implications and impacts of initiatives are accurately defined and understood, and leadership decisions regarding change initiatives are informed and based on a thorough analysis and recommendations. Plan and coordinate implementation activities for digital business transformation initiatives. Provide support pertaining to changes required and to all stakeholders of the new digital processes. Develop, implement, train, coach, create awareness and advise employees on relevant procedures, policies, technologies and impact. Participate in other assigned projects related to supporting effective digital business transformation delivery.

Written Communications. Create meaningful and influential documents, including business process automation, process improvement, quality improvement, workflow and technology fit/gap analysis and change management plan.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
  • Diploma/Degree in information science, data science, digital, design, information technology, related discipline or equivalent;
  • 3 years’ experience developing and implementing business transformation and innovative solutions within complex organizations, professional background as a business analyst or requirements manager within content management, e-commerce, experience management, search or similar digital projects
  • Experience from agile projects, testing or creating and maintaining UX requirements
  • Change management, coaching and training experience;
  • Facilitate design thinking workshops (rapid ideation, empathy maps, personas)
  • Develop client requirements in partnership with the creative and technical teams turn them into actionable specifications (epics, user stories etc)
  • Manage digital business change – digital change maturity, digital workspace, change impact assessment & change readiness
  • Highly agile, innovative, creative working style
  • Ability to confidently handle detractors and more difficult stakeholders
  • Comfort in public speaking and facilitation of small groups
  • Work on portfolios of customer journeys that span operating divisions
  • Knowledge of methods, processes and procedures of municipal government is an asset.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work varying hours to effectively support 24x7 service operations.
  • Access to transportation/use of own vehicle for frequent travel to City facilities.
