As a member of the healthcare team, the Business Clerk provides clerical, administrative or business support to patients, families and those providing service and/or care. Functions according to the job description for Business Clerks.- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Commercial/Business/Secretarial College Diploma/Certificate or equivalent office experience
- Medical Terminology Certificate 1 and 2 or demonstrated knowledge equivalent to the Medical Terminology Certificate 1 and 2 acquired in a different Business Clerk position, which may be subject to testing
- Keyboarding 40 wpm
- Knowledge and skill in using computer including: Community Wide Scheduling, MS Office, MS Access, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Exchange, MS PowerPoint
- Mathematical skills related to payroll, budget and statistical documents
- Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, public relations and problem-solving skills
- Ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly
- Ability to deal with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively
- Ability to appreciate the confidential nature of the position
- Ability to sit for long periods, repetitive reaching, repetitive bending

Unit Summary
3C is a pediatric intermediate care/surgical care unit within the McMaster Children’s Hospital. This inpatient unit provides acute tertiary and subspecialty medical and surgical care to children age 0-18. This is a dynamic fast-paced acute care unit where specialized medical and surgical care is provided for children with complex congenital abnormalities, cancer, blood disorders, endocrine, gastrointestinal, kidney, urinary, heart, respiratory, musculoskeletal disorders, as well as pediatric trauma.
