We are on the search for a permanent, full-time position of Manager, Brand. Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Marketing, the successful candidate will provide expertise in the creation and implementation of marketing and communication activities while serving as a member of the management team.

As Manager, Brand YOU Will Be Responsible For:

  • Leading the creation and implementation of marketing and communication activities for the Sandbox brand.
  • Providing direction and oversight to direct reports, ensuring accountability to key timelines and outputs, and that performance goals are achieved.
  • Ensuring that messaging and marketing activities are aligned with brand and company values.
  • Providing input into the development and lead the execution of brand strategies that solidify the Sandbox brand in the eyes of policyholders and brokers.
  • Leading the development and execution of brand campaigns, promotional materials, events, sponsorships, and community donation programs in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Developing a content strategy and oversee the creation of content for Sandbox’s digital platforms (website and social channels).
  • Supporting the Broker Services Team with the creation of marketing campaigns to support broker business development plans, leading the development of broker promotional materials (brochures, one-pagers, sales sheets), developing plans and key activations for broker tradeshow, and overseeing the content development for digital newsletters, broker notices, and presentations.
  • Serving as key media contact for Sandbox, coordinating media requests with the organization’s spokesperson
  • Participating in the development of marketing annual budgets and be accountable to the implementation of activities within approved budgets.
  • Developing annual marketing workplans with targeted outcomes that align to the organization’s strategic goals and budgets.
  • Staying on top of marketing trends and competitor activity to guide the creation of brand strategies.
  • Acting as a role model who supports a positive organization culture.

What We Need From YOU!

  • A university degree or equivalent in Marketing and/or Communications.
  • 5+ years marketing management experience; 3+ years team supervision experience.
  • Excellent communication, writing and editing skills; working well in cross-functional environments.
  • A strong understanding of marketing best practices and proven ability to translate vision into action. Demonstrated knowledge in market research, analytics, and consumer behaviour. A general understanding of business development and insurance distribution channels along with the ability to build strong relationships with brokers and other stakeholders.
  • A general understanding of how underwriting profitability impacts overall corporate results and capital requirements. The ability to understand and interpret financial statements and participate in the business planning process.
  • Ability to visualize, articulate, conceptualize, or solve problems by making decisions that are logical and reasonable given the available information.
  • Detail oriented with a commitment to innovation.
  • Project management and coordinating skills with the proven ability to handle multiple tasks and make decisions in a rapidly changing environment. Able to set priorities for self and overall department by creating a focus, eliminating roadblocks, and knowing what will help or hinder goal accomplishment. Manages project deadlines and assigns work based on employees’ abilities and competence.
  • Expert knowledge in the latest digital and social media technology and channels. Knowledgeable in leveraging marketing programs as part of an overall social business strategy.
  • Managerial skills including interviewing and selecting employees, providing constructive feedback, motivating, conducting performance and probationary reviews, and training and development.
  • Practices a ‘hands-on’ approach when directing employees and empowers employees to be successful through training, developing, and coaching. Holding people accountable by ensuring that they meet individual and organizational objectives in an appropriate manner. Monitors employee development plans and ensures alignment with department and company goals.
