Department Overview:

  • The Corporate Transformation & Operations Group (CTO) was formed last year to establish integrated shared services across Customer, Community & Corporate (CCC), Finance, HR and Risk with the strategic objectives of:

Executive Mandate:

The AVP, Finance Operations will be located in Moncton, NB, and play a critical role within CTO’s Corporate Operations function. The AVP will be accountable to lead several large and complex accounting operations areas including TD Securities segments and legal entities, as well as enterprise functions such as accounts payable.

The role will have a strategic mandate to develop and implement a process efficiency plan for these areas, including automation of manual payment processes and related controls. The position will partner closely with the new Product Control function in CTO to establish an efficient end-to-end operating model. The role will also be accountable to manage key stakeholder interactions, ensure tracking and problem resolution for key deliverables, escalate risks and issues as required to ensure the timely delivery of results. Key capabilities include financial controllership and accounting, strong operational management and coordination abilities, demonstrated end-to-end process improvement, and the ability to think and operate at a strategic level.

This is a highly visible role that is critical to the operating effectiveness and delivery of on-time and accurate financial results to the Bank. The position is a dynamic and fast-paced leadership role, designed to provide critical experiences, broaden capabilities and further develop the incumbent’s career.

The Candidate

Key Responsibilities

  • Own, lead and co-ordinate the delivery of financial operations activities for several large and complex segments including TD Securities and other enterprise functions:
  • Month-end accounting cycle and related financial & regulatory reporting
  • Preparation of legal entity financial statements as required
  • Capital reporting
  • Operational activities to support a variety of business transactions
  • Develop strategies to modernize the accounting and reporting delivery chain
  • Create a culture of service excellence within the team
  • Define and establish performance goals such as SLAs and KPIs in partnership with key stakeholders
  • FinOps partner focal point for accounting and policy related matters and escalations
  • Lead exception reviews; execute governance practices including error corrections & operating risk reporting
  • Prepare and deliver communication to senior level management
  • Strengthen the accounting controls environment; focus on effective error prevention and detective controls
  • Liaise with internal and external audit partners as needed
  • Identify opportunities to deliver increased productivity, simplify processes and enable automation
  • Build talent through development and training programs for accounting and reporting teams
  • Manage and motivate people, by creating an environment conducive to the development and retention of diverse and high performing talent; build clear and attractive career paths for talent
