Who we are
The Attorney General is the law officer of the Executive Council and is responsible to see that the administration of public affairs is in accordance with the law and to ensure protection of the public interest. The Legal Services Branch provides civil and constitutional legal advice and representation to all provincial government departments and related agencies.

The Office of the Attorney General, Department of Justice and Public Safety, is seeking an individual to join the Legal Services Branch as a Legal Administrative Assistant in Fredericton. The Legal Services Branch provides legal services to government departments throughout the Province of New Brunswick.

What you will do
The successful candidate will provide administrative support, file management and reception support in Fredericton. They will also be assigned to work with lawyers in one of the five practice groups: Corporate, Commercial and Property Law Group, the Administrative and Employment Law Group, the Litigation Group, the Legal Advice Services Group, and the Constitutional Law Group.

Work environment

  • Location: Chancery Place, Fredericton, NB
  • Minimum 36.25 work hours per week

Need to have (essential skills and qualifications)

  • High School Diploma or GED,
  • Successful completion of one (1) year post-secondary education in a related field,
  • and minimum of five (5) years related work experience.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Candidates must demonstrate on their applications how they have acquired the education and experience for this position. Your resume should be in chronological order specifying education and employment in months and years including part-time and full-time employment. Applicants must clearly demonstrate the essential qualifications to be given further consideration. Please indicate in your resumé your language preference for an interview.

Technical requirements

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

Nice to Have (asset qualifications)

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a legal setting.

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

Wage
$1,780 to $2,162 biweekly
