We currently have a fulltime position available in our Actuarial Solutions department. This role can be based out of our Edmonton Head Office. Reporting to our Manager, Actuarial Solutions, the successful candidate will work on the pricing of our products through the use of predictive analytical tools and comparative research of market prices and trends.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform actuarial analysis of insurance rates, rating procedures and rating plans for personal and commercial business lines (property, auto and casualty)
  • Provide support in developing effective rating systems
  • Prepare actuarial rate filings
  • Liaise with Information Technology department on development and maintenance of our underwriting system as it relates to pricing and reinsurance
  • Prepare insurance forecasting models as required
  • Compile of data required for reinsurance program
  • Provide recommendations to the Manager, Actuarial Solutions, regarding pricing and products
  • Keep informed of relevant industry developments
  • Provide support for and serve on special committees as initiated by the company
  • Prepare various other actuarial analysis as required

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Commerce or Science Degree
  • Minimum of 2 Casualty Actuarial Society exams and actively pursuing ACAS
  • Minimum of 1 years property and casualty experience preferred
  • Knowledge of underwriting and risk management

  • Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required
  • Familiarity with predictive modeling and data manipulation tools such as R or Python, SQL, Power BI, and Radar is a plus
  • Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects
