Job Summary:We require a local consulting engineer to establish our presence in the Vancouver area. The selected candidate will commission an office location and become our first point of contact for clients in the area. This role will report directly to the President of Jenike & Johanson Limited, headquartered in Toronto, Ontario. Depending on the candidate’s qualifications, this role may be required to start in the Toronto office as a short-term assignment before permanently working from the Vancouver area both remotely and on site (once the office is established). The candidate will perform both engineering work and business development to deliver solutions to our clients and to grow Jenike’s relationships.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Network and identify business opportunities primarily in Western Canada
  • Attend conferences and trade shows to promote Jenike’s business
  • Periodic off-site travel to meet with clients (office or remote site)
  • Develop project scope and proposal for award of project
  • Execute efficiently on bulk material handling consulting projects
  • Communicate (written and oral) effectively with all staff, clients, and suppliers
  • Rapidly learn, apply, and retain vital bulk solids handling knowledge and practices
  • Propagate a Total Safety and Team Support culture

  • Participate in other duties, responsibilities, and activities which may change at any time according to business needs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, or civil engineering – advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in bulk material handling as an engineering consulting professional.
  • Registered professional engineer in British Columbia.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a client facing role gained from a project management or business development role, with experience in performing engineering site assessment.
  • Good prospecting and networking skills.
  • A self-starter and good work ethic with a strong sense of collaboration.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Passionate about building a long-term career in bulk material handling science.
  • Timely and accurate project execution abilities.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills in English.

Other Requirements:

  • Days of work are Monday through Friday. Hours of work are typically between 8:30 am – 5 pm, or as approved by supervisor. This position periodically requires additional overtime hours beyond a 40-hour work week.
  • Lifting and other physical movement, respirator & personal protective equipment use, part of DEA program.
