About Us

The Ocean Capital Group of companies has five separate business lines providing goods and services in Broadcasting, Commercial Real Estate, Construction, Industrial Distribution and Petroleum Services. This diverse group of companies is based in Saint John, New Brunswick and is geographically spread throughout Canada and the New England States.

Ocean Capital has an IT department that operates out of OSCO Construction Group’s Corporate Services division, OSCO Group Services. The organization utilizes many Microsoft platforms, has an Oracle EnterpriseOne ERP as its core transaction system, operates several CAD systems, Business Intelligence tools and maintains many businesses specific software applications.

Job Summary

The Programmer Analyst is part of a growing team of over 30 IT professionals who support Ocean Capital. Reporting to the Business Solutions Manager, this position will develop and maintain applications and databases by evaluating client needs, analyzing requirements, and developing software solutions.

The successful candidate will serve as technical advisor to the user community of over 2000 employees, validating solution accuracy by conducting tests and modifying code. To ensure success, the position requires precise and consistent work output, strong prioritization, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Designing and creating mobile apps
• Ongoing maintenance of existing programs
• Developing and re-working custom software
• Writing conversion programs for existing data
• Additional duties as assigned

Technical Requirements

• Two years’ experience in the IT field would be considered an asset
• Strong knowledge of programming software/technology
• Fluency in Java, Kotlin, or Swift is a plus
• Prior experience with Android, or iOS development is an asset
• Strong knowledge of software development and fundamental design principles used in scalable applications
• Comfortable using version control to manage, collaborate, and backup projects
