Working under the direction of the Director of Housing & Housing Supports, the Movember Program Lead provides for the broad needs of the program participants via program planning, direct contact, situational evaluations and needs assessments, and formulation of remedial strategies to meet constituent needs in an effective and respectful manner.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Program Delivery:

  • Prepares work plan, organizes and facilitates program activities
  • Plans and delivers support and healing strategies based upon constituent needs
  • Provides ongoing monitoring of constituent progress, which utilizes an appropriate combination of traditional and contemporary practices, as appropriate
  • Facilitates and provides support to individual and group activities such as one-to-one counseling sessions, Sharing Circles, Sweats and Cultural Retreats, Home visits, etc.
  • Plans and organizes Cultural activities such as Retreats and Sweats for the program participants
  • Plans and coordinates Elder services for Cultural Retreats and Sweats while remaining within budgetary guidelines Reporting
  • Monitors and records the day-to-day activities, special events, workshops, etc. and such information in the Monthly Program Update
  • Maintains and supplies a thorough and accurate record of all program activity. Such statistics are supplied and recorded as per program goals and objectives

Community Relations & Recruitment

  • Is responsible for the recruitment and intake process for all program constituents, including registration, orientation, etc.

Team Environment & Staff Support

  • Maintains and supports respectful working relationships with colleagues, staff of AHWC, ancillary service providers, community groups, etc.

Communication

  • Respects and encourages others rights to be heard

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Social Work or a BA in Social Sciences, or a combination of education & training deemed acceptable by AHWC
  • Demonstrated experience as a program leader
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated skills in Conflict Resolution and team building
  • Ability to communicate in an Indigenous language(s) would be a definite asset
  • Possess a current valid Driver’s License and a suitable vehicle for work-related activities

Preference will be given to Indigenous applicants (First Nations, Status & non-Status, Inuit & Metis)
