Industry Services and Part-time Trades, collaborates with Continuing Education and other UFV departments to develop certificates and short courses related to Trades and Industry specialities. Duties & Responsibilities:Industry Services and Part-Time Trades instructors create a student-centred learning environment that encourages active student learning. Instructors teach to meet learning outcomes and incorporate their expertise, real life examples, and effective teaching strategies into the course and materials. Instructors participate in developing curriculum and lesson planning for face-to-face and online delivery. Instructors also document student’s attendance, participation, progress, and grade assignments and assessments that lead to a final grade. Instructors are required to receive satisfactory student evaluations.Qualifications
  • A Red Seal, and/or relevant trades and industry certifications
  • Currently or recently working in their industry profession
  • Experience working in a service role that includes communicating and cooperating with diverse populations
  • Minimum of three to five years’ recent industry experience
  • Experience training or instructing others
  • Recent instructor training completed or willingness to complete (e.g. Provincial Instructor Diploma; UFV - Adult Education - Integrated Learning Design certificate, UFV Instructional Skills Workshop, or recognized teaching credential)
  • Recent Professional Development in your area of expertise
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
  • Instructor experience with satisfactory student evaluations, or demonstrated interest in teaching
  • Experience using Management Systems (LMS) is an asset
  • Curriculum design experience is an asset
