We’re hiring a Production Supervisor for our FCM Brampton facility located in Ontario, Canada.

Direct manager of up to 25 operators, the Production Supervisor manages the production performance, personnel issues and the Health, Safety& Environment (HSE) standards. The main missions of the role are


QCDP (Quality, Cost, Delivery and People) performance

  • Participate in daily meetings to report line performance, successes and issues as well as actions initiated
  • Make sure indicators reflect customer expectations
  • Permanent presence on the Shopfloor: daily contact with all team members, close management of the lines
  • Define, together with the supervisors of the other shifts and the production manager, targets for the teams (improvement versus actual situation): Planned preventive maintenance, pph, TRS, absenteeism, number of accidents, improvement ideas…
  • Monitor performance during the shift and report accurate data at the end of the shift
  • Manage resources to reach results: adapt headcount to volume, etc
  • React in case of a problem: take care of immediate containment, call support functions, build corrective action plans
  • Replace team leader when necessary

Drive actions for improvement:

  • Define area for performance improvements
  • Drive teamwork and problem-solving activities, lead Problem Solving Groups and workshops
  • Drive improvement ideas generation and implementation
  • Ensure audits of standardized work are conducted by team leaders on a daily basis and ensure corrective actions are taking place.
  • Define threshold and escalation of reaction modes to problems within his/her supervisory zone

People Management

  • Leading by example in terms of rigor and discipline:
  • Ensure proper induction of new operators on the line
  • Build training plan to increase team autonomy; ensure training and coaching of team members
  • Manage annual performance interviews for all team members
  • Coach team leaders and team members in how to perform their role
  • Ensure discipline and rigor (work wear, break times, working hours…)
  • Ensure recognition upon individual performance: take part of the decision process

Health, Safety and Environment and working conditions

  • Ensure the respect of quality and safety instructions, policies and procedures
  • Ensure full respect of HSE rules and regulations
  • Responsible for immediate stopping of a line in case of safety risks
  • Lead HSE core teams to drive improvement of working conditions and ergonomics

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering


Experience:

  • First experience in production

Skills and competencies:

  • Knowledge of production methods would be an asset (Kanban, 5S, Hoshin, TPM…)
  • Strong sense of teamwork
  • Strong communication skills
  • Safety and quality mind-set
