The Role

A world class manufacturer of digital sign technology is currently seeking a resourceful, self-motivated Production Manager for our manufacturing facility in Oakville Ontario.. The Production Manager we seek is an aggressive and compassionate leader who strives to improve “Operational Excellence” on a daily basis. The role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of day to day operations and commercial activities of digital production facility.

Position And Responsibilities
  • This Full-time, Mid-Senior level position will manage 40-100 employees in a 2-3 shift operation shift operation
  • Work with Senior Management to embrace the company’s entrepreneurial culture and strategic vision to deliver; the Industry Leading product line, World Class manufacturing operations and “Best In Class” Quality.
  • Participate and drive the company’s manufacturing strategy using lean manufacturing and continuous improvements, Zero-Defect production methodologies. that includes; production process and product support engineering initiatives and with the operations teams. Develop key internal relationships to support Business Development, Engineering, and Quality.
  • Grow to assume full responsibilities for the production facility. Oversee and manage facility and equipment compliance to all Provincial, Federal Safety Regulatory and HS&E initiatives. Be adept at planning and scheduling weekly and monthly, a multi-celled production floor. Closely monitor and manage production to ensure timely execution to plan.
  • Establish and measure manufacturing strategic vision progress through KPI’s and other metrics to insure, Zero Defect quality, cost-effective on-time delivery and shareholder equity ot meet Business Plan targets with appropriate Visual Factory dash-boards.
  • Be that strong leader to all team members who is about to set high standards based on the Company‘s Core values and then meet them by first setting the example. Know personally the processes and engage all employee to find safer, better ways to do work.
  • Motivate, delegate, and communicate with a varied group of employees and cell supervisors. Empower them and hold them responsible for the outcome. Create and use a “Team” approach to develop a collaborative environment amongst the production employees and the supervision team. Hold respective non-production support teams accountable for timely and complete responses to meet production deliverables.
  • Lead daily production planning meetings and reviews.
  • Review/approve and ensure timely implementation of Manufacturing Execution Plans, Standard Operations Procedures, Safety Plans and Quality Plan Targets.
  • Coordinates production/planning activities to support new product launches. Participate in project reviews with the project team to verify production needs are met and there is compliance with design intent.
  • Coach and support Leadership development and training to promote from within.
  • Engage in early detection of production related detractors. Conduct investigations and report on all incidents related to Production, Quality and Health and Safety to ensure corrective action, proper resolution and closure. Escalate the situation in a proactive timely manner if necessary.
  • Oversee and manage facility and equipment compliance to all Provincial, Federal Safety Regulatory and HS&E initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering preferred) or related field (business, finance) is preferred. Other progressive related experience in a similar role will also be considered.
  • At least five (5) years diverse professional and managerial experience within an assembly related industry including a varied range of employee management, a strong hands-on leader with strategic decision-making skills and financial/budget awareness.
  • Experience managing the shop floor in a sign fabrication facility an asset.
  • Good mathematical aptitude with competency in using Microsoft Excel and other office products. Able to interpret technical mechanical and electrical drawings. Hands-on manufacturing knowledge of low to medium volume electrical equipment and close tolerance large assemblies metal fabrication processes using electrical, fitting, assembly, CNC equipment and general metalwork tooling is an asset.
  • Visionary with the ability to anticipate problems and obstacles to success before they happen, then formulate and implement tactical plans to overcome obstacles and meet deliveries.
  • Have experience with MRP/ERP and other business systems, Shop Floor Data Management (SFDM) systems, 1piece flows, KPI’s, Visual Factory, 5S and Quality Control/Assurance systems.
  • Able to handle demanding physical workload.
  • Must be a self-starter and with the ability work independently.
  • Excellent English communication (reading and writing) skills, time management and organizational skills are essential.
  • Must be flexible to work extra hours when needed including occasional weekends.
