What you’ll do:

Primary Function:

The primary function of the Champs Product Specialist is to support Canadian Field Sales in the Central Canada region on CORE and Edmonton Power Center (EPC) product line negotiations. Responsibilities include providing an extensive range of seasoned and professional interpretation of complex customer drawings and specifications; configuration of Power Distribution & Control Assemblies (PDCA), Commercial Distribution & Power Assemblies (CDPA) [Low Voltage Busway (LVB), Non-Segregated (Phase) Busway (NSB)], and EPC custom assemblies in Bid Manager; developing specific technical documents, clarifications and formal proposal preparation. This position will be located out of the Edmonton, Alberta, facility.

Essential Functions:

  • Providing an extensive range of seasoned and professional interpretation of complex customer drawings and specifications, configuration of Power distribution and control products: LV (208-600V), MV (2.4kV -38kV), Bus ducts (LVB and NSB) and Edmonton Power Center (EPC) custom Assemblies in Bid Manager, developing specific technical comments and clarifications and formal proposal preparation.
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding an annual objective of generating project Bid Manager Configurations, Bid for Bid and Bid for Buy, plus future growth.
  • Report business intelligence, orders won and lost, price realization obtained, competitive activity, new product requirements and track negotiations in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Work with internal teams to meet pricing and provide negotiation support as required with an incentive plan based on individual and team goals and metrics.
  • The incumbent must also possess the ability to provide leadership; technical guidance and value add engineering to field sales on CSA/NEMA/ANSI project negotiations.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in engineering, technical or business discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years experience with electrical assemblies, electrical distribution and protection technology.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.
  • No relocation is being offered for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng) or Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an engineering role or sales experience in electrical assemblies, electrical distribution and protection technology.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Prior experience in roles as Customer Order Engineer, Product Engineering Specialist, Inside/Outside Sales Representative, or Project Management Solution Specialist.


Skills:

Position Criteria:

  • Strong understanding of the engineering technologies of Eaton’s electrical product offerings at the component and assembly levels.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret a broad range of electrical medium voltage and low voltage single line and three-line drawings, wiring diagrams, technical specifications and commercial documents.
  • Expert level skills with power distribution product application and configuration of assemblies in Bid Manager.
  • Attention to detail in all aspects of product configuration and pricing disciplines.
  • Ability to identify and assess risk associated with large and major project execution.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties in a team atmosphere.
  • Strong knowledge of competitor capabilities, market conditions, and market channels.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical and business codes, commercial transactions, and selling/pricing policies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in English and French, with customers, third party vendors and Eaton personnel at all management, professional, and technical levels.
