INVISTA (Canada) Company’s Kingston Site located in Kingston, Ontario has an opening for a Process Engineer. It is one of the city’s largest employers with over 700 employees dedicated to the production of quality products used in the automotive airbag and engineering polymers industries. Our large production plant has a broad range of engineering applications from the upstream chemical processes (reactors, distillation columns, extruders) to downstream spinning processes which use highly automated, mechanical systems.

This opening is for a full-time position beginning May 2022 or sooner.

What You Will Do In Your Role

The role consists of providing technical and process support to our Operations facilities at Kingston Site, including:
  • Using data analytics and economic thinking to identify and develop value propositions for new ideas that improve safety, reliability, quality, and yield
  • Leading and delivering innovative experiments, process optimizations, and capital projects to improve site competitiveness
  • Troubleshooting our manufacturing processes and applying Root Cause Analysis methodologies
  • Building strong collaborative relationships with other teams and leaders across the site and the business
  • Analyzing process data to convert data into knowledge and actions therefore enabling process optimization (this can include material/heat transfer analysis, working with process equipment such as reactors and extruders, mechanical component re-design, material flow optimization)
  • Demonstrate the initiative of a Principled Entrepreneur, who challenges the status quo, prioritizes based on risk and value, is solution-oriented, and meets deadlines
  • Contribute positively to a team-oriented environment using your strong interpersonal skills
  • Show a commitment to ongoing learning and developing new skills while demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering completed by May 2022
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Previous manufacturing work experience
  • Experience with leading a project, initiative, or team
  • Ability to analyze large data sets to generate knowledge systems that present actionable information
  • Experience in automation and/or experience creating, designing, and implementing creative and ground-breaking ideas
  • Experience with the application of statistics
