The Opportunity:

As the Power Engineer Coordinator for Conventional Operations you will spend the bulk of your time in the field working in a dynamic environment as a key member of a cross-functional team and with continuous adherence to Canadian Natural’s Mission Statement. This exciting, growing operation consists of mature and new Power Engineering regulated facilities throughout NE British Columbia, Alberta and SE Saskatchewan. Working closely with all staff, you will leverage your leadership skills to provide support and guidance to all staff at applicable facilities while ensuring compliance to provincial regulations.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Update and maintain power plant registry in all company jurisdictions while understanding various Power Engineering (PE) regulations (Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan)
  • Manage all related PE databases (staffing database, equipment database).
  • Understand limitation of PE’ing levels and PE supervision requirements based on the plant classification. Work with Foremen and Superintendents to align staffing with PE requirements
  • Liaison with the Regulatory Authorities for Power Engineering compliance.
  • Ability to perform heating surface calculations
  • Support Operators to obtain PE’ing fully and temporary certification by aligning “steam time” requirements, assisting in applications and providing mentorship.
  • Work with Operations, Facilities Engineering and Asset Integrity with facility PE’ing requirements during modifications
  • Collaborate with Asset Integrity to ensure Power Engineering compliance

  • Job location: Grande Prairie, Alberta
  • Eligible for relocation to Grande Prairie area
  • Shift schedule: 5 X 2 - Monday to Friday
  • This is a safety sensitive position

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of field experience in an operational, maintenance or technical role
  • A minimum of a Second Class Power Engineering Certificate
  • Working knowledge of safety standards, environmental regulations
  • Proven team leadership experience in a supervisory or mentorship capacity
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Graduate with Technology diploma is preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification preferred
