QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION

Anatolia Capital Corp (ACC) is the real estate division of Anatolia Group Inc. Its business activities include the purchase and lease of commercial/industrial properties and the development and redevelopment of commercial/industrial properties. ACC also participates in renewable energy opportunities and currently own two large (150KW & 500KW) rooftop solar systems that are contracted under the Ontario feed-in-tariff program.

Geographically, ACC focuses on the primary and secondary leasing markets in the GTA area, however also owns properties in Halton Hills, Oakville, Caledon, and Milton. Since being incorporated in 2010, Anatolia Capital Corp has had tremendous year over year growth. Current portfolio boasts approximately 4 million square feet of prime industrial warehouse space, as well as close to 1,000 acres of land being held for development.

POSITION SCOPE:

Reporting to the Planning Manager, the Planner I is responsible for managing all Anatolia Capital Corp land development projects and the activities involved that ensure the land is ready to enter the construction phase. This involves the monitoring of application submissions, preparation of schedules and reports, managing and following project timelines and liaising with municipalities and government entities so that projects are completed on time and within scope.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Assists Planning Manager to ensure planning team executes complex development applications, including official plan amendments, zoning bylaw amendments, site plan approvals, plans of subdivision, consents, and minor variances.
  • Solid understanding of Development Planning; Research and review municipal and regional staff reports, planning studies, development proposals, by-laws, municipal and provincial files
  • Assist Planning Manager with review, research, and evaluation of new land purchase opportunities.
  • Monitor municipal council agendas for changing governing planning policies
  • Working with the project stakeholders, sequence project activities to ensure that project progress is on schedule.
  • Monitors planning-related trends and planning activities at the Provincial, Regional and local municipal level, including matters such as Ontario Municipal Board decisions, legislative/ regulatory changes, new initiatives in other municipalities, zoning standards, etc., and provides input, advice, interpretation on how these may affect Anatolia Capital Corp.
  • Undertakes special projects and performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with corporate objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four year (4) accredited university degree in Urban Planning or related discipline is required.
  • Eligibility for a provisional or full membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and Ontario Professional Planners Institute (O.P.P.I) is required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of professional planning experience in Ontario is required.
  • Knowledge of the development planning process in Ontario including the Planning Act, the Provincial Policy Statement, the Places to Grow Act, the Greenbelt Plan and Regional/local Official Plans and Zoning By-laws.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work under time constraints.
  • Exceptional analytical, evaluation, planning and project management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Most work is performed in a standard office environment with limited exposure to adverse conditions or health and safety risks.
  • Position requires a high level of sustained visual attention, very moderate manual dexterity on a regular basis with sitting at length or standing at length.
  • Work requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Occasional travel required.
