Position Title:Planet-Friendly Manager (15-Month Contract)

This position is a temporary, 15-month maternity coverage. This position can be based out of Toronto or Chicago and will report to the NA Planet-Friendly Director who sits in McCain’s Chicago office, USA.

The Planet-Friendly Manager will enable McCain to advance its sustainability goals, by supporting strategy development and more specifically leading the Thriving Community pillar. If you are passionate about eliminating food waste,encouraging volunteering, and supporting the efforts of our Planet-Friendly ambassadors; if you are a rigorous and data-orientated person who can drive projects forward with structure; if you have the enthusiasm and empathy to mobilize people, this could be a job for you!


ABOUT THE ROLE:

Project Management [approx. 50% of the time]: You have strong leadership and project management skills, and you are able to jungle multiple projects / priorities and deliver high quality outcomes under occasionally tight deadlines.

  • Lead short- and long- range sustainability strategies through development and execution of supporting projects and engaging multifunctional teams to deliver the commitments in line with McCain’s Thriving Community pillar.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to manage various CSR projects ranging from CO2 reduction initiatives to packaging improvements.
  • Support the regional sustainability governance to ensure objectives are being met at different levels of the organization (regional steering committees, network of local champions,…)
  • Supports cross functional stakeholders in their efforts to develop innovations in line with Planet-Friendly initiatives.

Reporting [approx. 15% of the time]: You are a process and result oriented leader with a solid business acumen and an eye toward impact and influence.

  • Support third party audits when sustainability data is required
  • Serve as primary contact to respond to various stakeholder ESG requests, including customer and prospect RFPs and surveys, investors, and employees.
  • Address customer sustainability surveys and requests for information in a timely manner.
  • Support the development of the Global Sustainability Report, in collaboration with the global CSR data lead.
  • Maintain consistency in quantitative and qualitative sustainability information across various platforms and scorecards
  • In addition to the existing data management systems, you may need to build new tools or improve existing solutions to cover blind spots


Support the operationalization of CSR (making it happen) [approx. 35% of the time]: Transmit the strategic sustainability vision and convey the business case of sustainability to inspire understanding, commitment and action from local teams and leadership;

  • Support the communication strategy to share sustainability progress internally, build and develop appropriate communication tools.
  • Creatively share key sustainability data in a way that is compelling and tailored to each audience, strong Powerpoint skills required.
  • Develop sustainability skills viatraining (ex. leadership training, functional training) on various fields of Sustainability
  • Act as a coach and hands-on advisor to local initiatives where necessary

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Someone who is passionate about sustainability, with a robust knowledge of sustainability and climate issues
  • 3+ years of technical and professional development experience in sustainability with a significant experience in a role that combines technical and professional experience in sustainability
  • A Master degree in Engineering or Business school, ideally specialized in Sustainability, Environmental planning, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Policy or related field
  • Demonstrated experience implementing sustainability solutions across a range of topic areas.
  • Have Excellent project management skills and experience in amplifying sustainability wins internally & externally, creativity and design ability.
  • Analytical: Concise and data oriented
  • Demonstrate a strong business acumen, communication, interpersonal, influencing and relationship building skills.
  • Have strong technical depth, dynamic cross-functional interaction and highly effective communication skills, excels at Powerpoint.

TRAVEL:some travel within North America; max 15%.
