Robert Half is hiring for a Payroll Administrator position in Surrey BC! This position is ideal for a junior payroll professional looking to work in diverse areas of Payroll and manage the full cycle semi-monthly & bi-weekly payroll in a high-volume environment. The position will permanent full time and based in office (i.e., not remote). This is an excellent opportunity to gain mentorship and training for a long-term career within Payroll!

The Payroll Administrator will report to an experienced Payroll Manager and will receive mentorship and training for Payroll functions on the job. You will be processing payroll for 500+ employees in BC & AB locations and will gain exposure to both union and non-union payroll. You will also be responsible for payroll journal entries, reporting, and reconciliations. In addition, you will have an opportunity to partner with / assist with other accounting functions such as accounts payables / receivables.

This position will be responsible for performing the following job duties:
  • Full cycle payroll processing for 500+ employees using an in-house system for locations in BC & AB
  • Enter information into the payroll system and review accuracy prior to processing
  • Process adjustments to the payroll and obtaining approvals where required
  • File WCB, issue ROE’s, T4’s and other ensure the employee database is kept up to date with new hire information, terminations and employment changes
  • Ensuring the payroll accuracy & processing in compliance to the union agreement, company policies/ procedures and legislation
  • Post journal entries and process reconciliations monthly
  • Process vacations, leaves, time off requests in a timely manner and with proper approval process
  • Prepare payroll reports for regular reporting and special requests / projects, as assigned
  • Assist with the benefits administration and adhoc accounting duties, as required
Requirements

What does the position require?
  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on payroll experience is required processing a payroll for 100+ employees
  • PCP designation – enrolled or completed
  • Experience with union and/or multi-provincial payroll processing will be considered an asset
  • Strong organization, prioritization, and communication skills
  • Experience with in-house payroll systems
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills
