Reporting to Controller, the Payroll and Accounting Administrator will be mainly responsible for preparing, verifying, and processing payroll information and providing accounting support when necessary. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to further gain experiences in accounting while being supported in a team environment. You’re a self starter, you pride yourself on catching the details and you understand the importance of providing responsive service to those in the organization.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE

· Process and input payroll information for both hourly (Currently less than 40 hourly employees will group up to 160) and salaried employees

· Update and process US sales team’s payroll, reimbursement and commission.

· Strong working knowledge of updating payroll systems from production time record.

· Complete payroll journal entries by department and post to the General Ledger.

· Calculate, reconcile WCB and EHT.

· Oversee regular payroll reporting as required and assist with financial audits related to pay records and associated general ledger.

· Coordinate with HR team for payroll changes including: new hire, termination, change of compensation rate, PTO request.

· Guide staff with pay related issues, general questions related to payroll, PTO accruals, wage deductions, ROE.

· Maintain month end working papers as assigned.

· Assist processing of ad-hoc vendor invoice

· Other ad-hoc tasks or projects

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

· 3 year’s experience processing payroll in Canada.

· Bookkeeping experience with a focus on Payroll, preferably in manufacturing or high-volume transaction business.

· Diploma/ degree in accounting.

· Payroll Compliance Practitioner certification (PCP), or CPM from the Canadian Payroll Association would be an asset.

· Working towards CPA designation is considered an asset.

· Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

· Knowledgeable about BC Employment Standards

· Ability to have a flexible schedule during peak times to meet payroll deadlines.

· Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
