This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Health Services Manager and working under the direction of the Charge Nurse and Staff Nurse, the Patient Attendant is responsible for supporting patient care activities in their work area including: patient care; assisting in the movement and transportation of patients; cleaning equipment and work areas; maintaining equipment and handling of sterile items.

Qualifications
  • Grade XII
  • Current certification in CPR
  • Current certification in WHIMIS
  • Previous Patient Attendant experience an asset
  • Previous experience working in OR environment is preferable
  • Must be able to respond quickly to unexpected situations and work effectively in emergency situations
  • Ability to lift and move patients using proper body mechanics and/or lifting devices
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Must have highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours of Work

Long Assignment, Part-Time positions; 37.5 hours biweekly

Beginning September 2021 with an anticipated end date of September 2022 (approximately 12 months)

Dates are subject to change

Shifts include days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays (7.5 hour shifts)

Salary Information

$18.6676 - $20.1920/ hourly
