Position: Overnight Security Manager

Reporting to the Race Director, the Security Manager’s primary role is focused on providing a presence at race venues. The goal of the Security Manager is to prevent vandalism or theft of Spartan Race Canada property while accomplishing a variety of tasks to aid in a successful event.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide overnight security at the venue, preventing vandalism or theft.
• Maintain a safe and efficient working environment for staff.
• Complete a variety of assigned tasks given by the Race Director, Build Director, Festival Director, and Base Camp Manager.
• Recruit Safety / Loss Prevention Team Volunteers.
• Manage the Safety / Loss Prevention Team roster and continuously provide updates and information to the volunteers.
• Create a layout of Safety Team positions using the festival layout map per each event location.
• Recruit a Safety / Loss Prevention Team Leader to manage the team while the Security Manager is off shift during event days.
• Provide an orientation, walkthrough, and duty description to volunteers before event days.
• Communicate with Law Enforcement and EMT/Paramedics effectively.
• Continuously update a patrol and productivity log.
• Provide an end of shift brief to necessary personnel.
• Follow standard of procedure to ensure event security timeline is executed flawlessly

Qualifications:

• Possess basic construction knowledge and the ability to operate and maintain power tools
• Ability to work various shifts, weekends and/or nights and spend long hours on feet, potentially in inclement weather
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
• Ability to communicate effectively to organization staff and volunteers in person, over phone or radio
• High work ethic and integrity, observant and have attention to detail
• Must be qualified to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license.

• Willingness and ability to travel to race venues.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products used largely to assist in the volunteer recruitment and management

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract, Seasonal
Contract length: 6 months

Salary: $150.00-$200.00 per day

Schedule:

• 12 hour shift
• Holidays
• Monday to Friday
• Night shift
• Weekend availability

Experience:

• Security: 2 years (preferred)

Willingness to travel:

• 50% (preferred)
