The Mount Pearl Sport Alliance is a non-profit, voluntary organization. We are an "alliance" of 13 community sport organizations working collaboratively to strengthen the development and delivery of community-based youth sport programs. The City of Mount Pearl is the primary partner in creating and sustaining the Alliance model and operations. Collaborations and support also include other volunteer organizations, local schools, and the business community. Collectively the Alliance has a stronger voice in the community than any one of its member organizations and can take advantage of critical mass for development and training, fundraising projects, and common programs and services. The Sport Alliance has two full time staff, and a network of volunteer committees and project leaders.

The role

Reporting to the Business Manager, the Office & Project Coordinator is responsible for general office and program/project administration and coordination. The successful candidate will have a wide degree of flexibility and autonomy to provide their expertise, creativity, and support in the following areas:

Accounting: Maintain accounting system with daily bookkeeping, assist in the preparation of the annual budget, and assist Treasurer with preparation of year-end files.

Event Planning: Organize events including Annual Awards, Sports Hall of Fame, fundraising projects, volunteer recognition, etc.

Marketing: Maintain social media presence and community awareness, including advertising and promotions.

Executive Office Support: Liaise with Board, Executive, and Committees re: meetings and follow up. Provide monthly updates and support for committee chairs. Remain current with operations and programs of all member sports and provide support where practical.

Perform other duties as required.

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate will be well organized, outgoing, and willing and eager to work with others. They will demonstrate an ability to work independently and have a passion to interact with the public and volunteers. Attention to detail and deadlines is critical, as is multitasking, time management, and exceptional communication skills. Strong bookkeeping skills and a working knowledge of Simply/Sage is preferred as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google applications.
