Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Program Manager, the Occupational Therapist provides assessment of assigned clients and

develops and implements individual and group occupational therapy treatment programs. The Occupational Therapist is

accountable for maintaining the Standards of Practice and Ethics of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario. The

Occupational Therapist will provide clinical education and experience for allied health students and will participate in formal

teaching and research in conjunction with Queen’s University. As a member of the clinical team, the Occupational Therapist will
participate in discipline-specific and inter-professional activities that are directed towards a client-centered environment and that

contribute to quality, operational efficiency, professional and program development.

Education & Experience: Key Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Graduate of a recognized

school of Occupational

Therapy

Active, unrestricted

license to practice with

the College of

Occupational Therapists

of

Ontario

Experience in specified

area of practice

preferred

Experience in instructing

students an asset

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice and best practice and ongoing

professional development

  • Demonstrated knowledge of professional standards of practice
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work effectively, manage a full work-load and meet deadlines in

a busy environment with frequent interruptions

  • Demonstrated trouble shooting skills and ability to problem solve issues that may arise in carrying
out the duties of this position
  • Demonstrated client-centred focus and commitment to the Mission, Vision, Values and goals of
the department and of Providence Care
  • Demonstrated professional work ethic and behaviours in interaction with internal and external
contacts
  • Demonstrated effectiveness as a team member through collaboration, respect and effective

  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to health and safety policies, procedures and

  • Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing word processing, electronic mail, and Internet software
applications
  • Demonstrated good physical condition to meet the physical demands of the position
  • Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check & Vulnerable Sector Screen for external candidates if

hired; must be an original copy, current within last six months

  • Bilingual in French and English language, preferred
