LLS Pathology Support Group

The Department of Pathology at LHSC provides comprehensive diagnostic, teaching and research expertise for Southwestern Ontario, Canada and abroad. While managing a heavy clinical workload, the faculty remains active in the academic mission of LHSC and Western University.

This position provides secretarial support for the diagnostic, teaching and research work of one or more pathologists, and as part of the pathology support team, shares in the production of a high volume of complex diagnostic surgical pathology and autopsy reports. This position also shares in the administrative support to departmental committees and functions.

Regular Full-Time

Rate of Pay: $24.73 per hour - $26.79 per hour

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

Qualifications

  • Completion of a two (2) year Medical Office Administration Program
  • Successful completion of a Medical Terminology course
  • Minimum 2 years recent, related experience
  • Experience in a Laboratory setting (preferred)
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, Cerner, Power Chart, Intranet), data/resource and file Management
  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency with medical transcription
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of anatomy/medical terminology
  • Proficient with preparation of correspondence, minute taking, proofreading & editing documents
  • Knowledge of Acuity Star (preferred).
  • Strong ability to organize and prioritize effectively and accurately in a setting of competing demands
  • Demonstrated excellent problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a busy office setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of LHSC Privacy and Confidentiality legislation
  • Ability to communicate information accurately and professionally (both verbally and written)
  • Demonstrated initiative, self-direction and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstarted knowledge of and committment to the principles of patient and family centred care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of an commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
