This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Laboratory Services, the Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) works in collaboration with all members of the Laboratory Services team to conduct medical laboratory tests, experiments and analyses to assist in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.

The MLT ensures that the principles and practices that guide our work such as the mission, vision, values, expected behaviours, the leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships and interprofessional collaboration are integrated within the services they provide and through the messages they deliver.

Qualifications
  • Graduation from a School of Laboratory Technology and current registration in the Canadian Society of Laboratory Science and practising status with the Nova Scotia College of Medical Laboratory Technologists
  • Ability to work alone.
  • Knowledge of transportation of infectious substances
  • Must be willing to rotate between Lab sites and departments of the CBRH as required.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Good attendance and work record
  • Travel may be required
Hours of Work

Permanent Full Time Position; 75 hours bi-weekly

Shifts may include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays

Salary Information

Medical Laboratory Technologist

$28.9131 - $35.2033 hourly

The successful candidate may be eligible for a $2,500 signing bonus and up to $5,000 in relocation expenses for a two year return of service agreement.
