The Opportunity

The company is developing a strong line of new products for the market which require substantial design input. To do this we are expanding our design and development team, which requires a Mechanical Designer. The position will allow the candidate to be an integral part of the core development team. All design, research and development is done in-house. Being part of the design team will allow you this unique opportunity to work on and take ownership of many aspects of the development of the machines.

The client is a leading manufacturer of large high-temperature heat pumps for the commercial and industrial Canadian and US markets. The company is investing heavily in its growth, expanding the facilities, including climate chambers for development and testing of new product development.

Responsibilities

Position Description
  • Develop new product layouts in 3D modelling (Solidworks).
  • Generate applicable drawings and flat patterns for fabrication.
  • Create bills of materials.
  • Sourcing, reviewing and purchasing components for mechanical assemblies.
  • Work with operations personnel to gain feedback for product development and refinement.
  • Work with sub-vendors to finalize the components.
  • Evaluate the design in the final product format and functionality.
  • Preparation of technical documents.
  • Support production and sales.

Experience

Qualifications

+5 years experience with Solidworks 3D software modelling

Experience with sheet metal design beneficial

Experience with any HVAC equipment is beneficial

Education

Engineering Technician/Technologist Diploma
