The Manufacturing Engineer helps to plan and designs methods to improve manufacturing processes throughout the facility. They facilitate changes to designs, processes, and procedures with the production department to ensure quality products are produced efficiently. Engineering aptitude, high attention to detail and the ability to optimize processes are necessary skills for this role.

What will you be working on?

  • Design jigs/fixtures and standard operating procedures to ensure high quality products are produced
  • Creation and maintenance of manufacturing bill of materials
  • Provide engineering support for manufacturing activities to help maximize production
  • Perform engineering analysis of production activities, evaluate efficiency gains and make recommendations for improvements
  • Help investigate problems, analyze root causes, and derive resolutions
  • Help develop best practices to improve production capacity, quality, and reliability
  • Make improvements to engineering documentation and procedures
  • Perform cost studies; design and implement cost-reductive changes

What is required for this role?

  • Engineering degree or diploma in related field
  • 5+ years’ direct work experience
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks is required
  • Meticulous attention to detail; strong mechanical background with focus on manufacturing methods and procedures
  • Experience with steel fabrication, manufacturing processes and machine design
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
  • Practical experience with jig/fixture design and implementation
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and lean manufacturing techniques are considered an asset
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines
