Purpose


The Manager, MIS is to work closely with peers and leadership within AML Program as well as partners within Technology and Operations. Position is responsible to maintain data extraction and transformation processes and reporting development for various AML workstreams which includes Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), Transaction monitoring and Name Screening. Based on their specialized knowledge and expertise, the Manger will be responsible for ensuring the development of new reporting channels and mechanisms while also ensuring accurate and relevant measurement and reporting of Scotiabank’s AML responsibilities.


Accountabilities


  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Communicate with multiple levels of business stakeholders and prepare documentation to capture requirements and understand business needs.
  • Creates reporting procedural documents that capture the data flow, procedures, and metric definitions for each report.
  • Conducts research and analysis to meet the needs of AML/ATF senior management and supported units across the global organization.
  • Design and develop PLSQLs & ETLs to operationalize Key Performance Indicators (KPI), Key Risk Indicators (KRI) and Quality Indicators (QI) which support the tactical and strategic needs of our diverse business partners.
  • Creates, manages and maintains monthly and ad-hoc reporting tools, including reports and dashboards, to share behavior and information with stakeholders which provide value added insight and actionable recommendations for business partners.
  • Utilizes advanced analytical techniques to uncover patterns, trends and relationships among large disparate dataset to allow insight into the impact of volumes, productivity and conversion ratios to better understand our risk universe.
  • Provide insight on the interpretation of analytics and model outputs to enable compliance operations teams to take appropriate actions.
  • Assisting in the review and evaluation of business initiatives, product and projects with respect to AML/ATF and formulate insightful guidance and input to senior business leaders
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.


Education / Experience


  • 3-5 years experience (AML field is an asset)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics or related sciences, and/or an obtained Master’s degree in Information Systems Certification(s) preferred.
  • Strong and in-depth knowledge of Database and Case Management tools such as Mantis (Oracle) and FCRM
  • Strong and in-depth knowledge with at least one of the following data visualization products Tableau and/or Power BI. Experience must include understanding of both server components and end user/development components.
  • Working experience with SQL & PLSQL and least one of the following of scripting languages such as VBA, C#, R and Python
  • Exhibited abilities in leading small teams through a development cycle, not necessarily as direct reports.
  • Thorough knowledge of AML regulations, practices and economic sanctions, which may be enhanced via accreditation by ACAMS (Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists), is an asset.
