Machine learning / High Performance Compute Release Manager

The Role

As release program manager in AMD’s machine learning software engineering team, you will drive end-to-end delivery of leading-edge technology in high performance GPU-accelerated compute and machine learning for the Radeon Open Compute software stack. You will learn about how the power of open-source software can be applied to solve real-world problems. You will interact with product management, customers, software and hardware engineering teams, quality assurance and operations in a new and growing team.

The Person

The successful candidate in this release management role will be a self-starter, upbeat, quick learner who is passionate about new technology in addition to being results-oriented and able to get things done. They will be able to resolve ambiguity and adapt to changes in a dynamic environment. Drawing on their engineering background and proven experience in delivering software releases, the ideal candidate will be an excellent organizer, communicator and coordinator who can engage with cross-geographical teams to deliver high quality software releases

Key Responsibilities

Work closely with engineering managers, software developers and product managers to drive delivery of software releases in an open source Linux software stack.
  • Drive and track software releases for new software features.
  • Lead the software release cycle across multiple functional areas including software development, hardware integration, quality assurance, and product management.
  • Define releases, drive features and bug fixes, testing, and documentation.
  • Manage risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule, and quality.
  • Improve and maintain all processes related to building and testing the product.
  • Assist in improving processes and procedures within the team. Help streamline day-to-day operations.
  • Regularly communicate the program status and key issues to management and across the organization
Preferred Experience
  • Project Management experience in industry, specializing in release management
  • Background in Linux-based software development environments
  • Strong organization skills, Program / Project Management and SW engineering acumen
  • Hands-on software development, testing experience a definite plus
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Motivated to work with cross geographical teams
  • Experienced with Jira Software
  • Familiar with AGILE software development processes
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Great teammate with a dedication to meeting deadlines and an aptitude to thrive in a fast-moving multi-tasking environment
  • Experience program running Linux based products is a plus.
  • Experience using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint, Microsoft Project, Jenkins & Robot Frameworks
  • Experience in Machine Learning frameworks (TensorFlow, Caffe2, PyTorch, etc.) is highly desired
  • Experience in delivering software for new hardware products and GPUs is an advantage
  • Experience in High Performance Computing is preferred
  • Experience in Virtualization frameworks (Linux KVM, etc.) is desired
  • Experience in Containerization frameworks (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Software development experience
  • PMP certification is highly desirable, but not required
