Description :

VIA Rail Canada Inc., a leader in passenger transportation in Canada, is currently seeking applications from qualified Locomotive Engineers to fill position for May 2023 in the Montreal region ( Montreal South and North)

The Locomotive Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of VIA Rail passengers and crew, enabling VIA to meet its scheduled operations and provide excellent customer service.

This designated safety-critical position entails working varying schedules, being away from home for extended periods of time, working under pressure and dealing with stressful factors all within the guidelines of the Railway Safety Act of Canada and the Canadian Railway Operating Rules as well as VIA Rail’s special instructions.

Requirements :

*** Qualified Locomotive Engineer
*** Very good spoken and written communication skills in French and English
*** Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) qualified
*** Operating experience will be evaluated and considered throughout the selection process
*** No criminal record
*** Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position
*** Good technical and mechanical aptitudes
*** Track experience on the subdivisions for the position is a definite asset
