Your Opportunity:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides safe and effective nursing care within their full scope of practice. The LPN participates in nursing assessments and interventions, care planning, implementing prescribed treatments, administering medications, evaluating treatments and monitoring/documenting treatment progress and patient response, they will participate in quality monitoring activities to improve outcomes. Employees will participate in quality monitoring activities. Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient, the LPN identifies needs and sets priorities in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. The LPN may be assigned in the medical/surgical or the LDRP area of the unit. The LPN facilitates patient and family centered education and discharge planning, in accordance with the established standards, and the Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Alberta Health Services.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years of recent medical/surgical nursing experience. Minimum 2 years of recent obstetrical nursing exp. The ability to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities is essential. The candidate must be able to work well independently and within a team. Demonstrates critical thinking skills, within scope of practice, including clinical judgment, problem solving skills and strong decision making ability. Completion of SCC’s will be expected.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current NRP certification is preferred.
