This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Nurse Manager or designate, the Licensed Practical Nurse practices as a team member and works to full scope of practice, independently providing nursing care to individuals with stable health conditions and predictable health outcomes, and consulting and practicing with other healthcare professionals when caring for individuals with unstable conditions and/or unpredictable health outcomes. The Licensed Practical Nurse is one of the collaborators in the Collaborative Care Model, participating in the provision of holistic, comprehensive care to meet the needs of individuals, families and groups. As a member of the team, the Licensed Practical Nurse applies practical nursing theory in the assessment of patients, collaboration in the development and implementation of the care plan and ongoing evaluation of the patient.
The duties of the Licensed Practical Nurse will be carried out in accordance with the principles and practices that guide Nova Scotia Health.
Qualifications
- Graduate from an approved School of Practical Nursing required
- Currently registered with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN) required
- Current CPR certification
- Minimum of one (1) year recent nursing experience relevant to the above specified unit is preferred
- Must be at full scope of LPN practice
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with patients/residents, families, other health care providers and staff, demonstrating sensitivity, empathy and warmth
- Ability to organize, prioritize, supervise patient/resident care and be accountable for decisions
- Basic computer skills; Meditech an asset
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours of Work
- Permanent, full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
- Shifts may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
$28.3268 - $30.4229 hourly
