Work environment

We are located at Place Bell situated at 160 Elgin Street, an office complex in downtown Ottawa and next to the Rideau Canal and the Rideau Shopping Centre. This location offers easy access to restaurants, fitness facilities, walking/running paths and parks. We are conveniently located close to major bus routes making it easy to commute from all points across the city.

The Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC) Library is looking for an independent, innovative and tech-savvy Library Technician. Reporting to the Law Librarian, the Library Technician supports the creation and maintenance of a library portal and provides cataloguing, acquisition, interlibrary loan and circulation services to our offices across Canada. If you would like to develop a broad range of skills and knowledge in library and information science, this is the job for you.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
  • Successful completion of two years of a post-secondary program with acceptable specialization in library/archival work. We will accept candidates whose studies will be completed by May 2022.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
  • Recent and significant* experience working in a library or other related field such as an archive or records centre.
  • Experience in providing delivery of library or information management services.

  • Recent and significant are defined has having worked in this area for approximately 6 months within the last 4 years.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Asset Qualification - Education:
  • Successful completion of a two-year library technician diploma program.

Degree equivalency

Asset Qualifications - Experience:
  • Experience working in a federal library.
  • Experience cataloguing and classifying library material using international standards for bibliographic description and control.
  • Experience providing interlibrary loan services.

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
