St. Clair College is seeking an experienced and motivated professional who shares our commitment to quality and student success.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The incumbent arranges or directly provides the out of classroom learning supports and accommodations for students and provides a wide variety of unique and highly individualized accommodations. They provide the specific accommodation of assistive testing for tests, quizzes, midterms and exams. Position provides assistive computer support services to assist students in the testing lab. In a collaborative approach with Student Services team members, works with faculty and staff regarding implementation of accommodations for accommodated and make-up testing. Additionally, the incumbent will gather information for government reports and proposals and will assist with tracking statistics for the centre’s activity. This position also provides support to services housed in the Centre (i.e.: Counselling, Disability Services, Testing, Director, etc.) by performing general office duties. Position is responsible for record management and confidentiality of client files, books appointments, relays calls, and provides factual information in response to inquiries. Decides on own initiative and judgement, the nature and urgency of all queries, screening which matters need to be directed to a counsellor, Director or other departments.

Student Services Support Responsibilities. 15%

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS REQUIRED):

EDUCATION

A Minimum 2-year diploma in Social Services, Education, or equivalent is required. Certification in an accessibility-related area (e.g. special education) and practical experience in learning support will be given preference.

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the area of service to clients with disabilities, assistive technology in an educational setting and learning support services. Demonstrated ability in advanced report writing.

ANALYSIS & PROBLEM SOLVING

· Coordination of testing accommodations for students with disabilities.

· Provides assistance to students with physical disabilities.

PLANNING/COORDINATING

· Logs test appointments, receives and processes tests from instructors via hard copy or electronically. Prepares tests in alternate format. Prepares and processes accommodation plans to students.

· Performs liaison duties as required with individuals/groups internal and external to the College regarding Student Services.
