The Lab Technician supports the quality control testing and development of new and existing products. The Lab Technician will receive guidance from, and execute tasks assigned by the Lab Manager to support these activities.Key Responsibilities
- Follow safety procedures and actively participate in Fluid’s health and safety program.
- Promote a culture that reflects the organization’s values, encourages good performance, and rewards productivity.
- Carry out tasks following strict methodologies and standard operating procedures.
- Perform laboratory tests to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations.
- Assist in the design and execution of sampling, experiments, and data analysis.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments (e.g., pH meter, balances, UV-Vis spectrophotometer, autoclaves).
- Support operations with quality control testing, compatibility testing, sample preparation, and coordination with 3rd party labs as needed.
- Prepare specimens, reagents, and samples for customers.
- Ensure the laboratory is well-stocked and resourced.
- Clean laboratory glassware, equipment, and keep work areas clean and tidy.
- Record laboratory data in a designated laboratory notebooks, forms, and electronic databases.
- Organize and maintain data in appropriate physical or electronic locations to ensure data integrity and security.
- Perform calculations and compose technical reports based on test results.
- Summarize and communicate results to colleagues and customers.
- Knowledge and experience with general chemical laboratory skills.
- Ability to maintain and calibrate technical equipment.
- Ability to work safely and follow Standard Operating Procedures in a laboratory setting.
- Flexibility to work with and provide support for cross-functional teams.
- Ability to build effective relationships and collaborate across departments.
- Time management skills to effectively manage multiple tasks throughout the day.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook.
- A collaborative individual who excels in a team environment.
- Attention to detail.
- 0 to 5 years of experience in a chemical laboratory environment.
- B.Sc. or laboratory technician diploma in a related field.
- Ability to work in an office and laboratory environment.
- Ability to lift up to 20 kg.
- Ability to work occasional non-standard shifts to accommodate testing that runs outside standard business hours.
- Some travel may be required for this role.
