Saint Vincent’s Nursing Home is a 148-bed not-for-profit home located in the heart of Halifax. We are a resident and family centred community caring for one another. We work together to create quality of life and support each other by recognizing individual physical, social, emotional, cultural, and spiritual needs.

We are seeking a confident, outgoing, and flexible person or persons to provide weekend staffing support. They will be responsible for replacement of staff on the weekends. They work in accordance with the collective agreements to meet staffing requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain a working knowledge of collective agreements and policy.
• Receives sick calls and schedules replacements for all sick calls.
• Maintains accurate records of calls received and made.
• Works with the responsible RN to problem solve staffing needs.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Grade XII or equivalent.
• Formal education and/or experience in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Previous experience in a 24-hour health care setting and computerized staff scheduling would be an asset.
• Experience in Staff Schedule Care an asset.

• Demonstrated excellent attendance
• Demonstrate good judgment, initiative and tact.
• Work independently, as well as an effective part of the resident care team.
• Ability to make independent decisions as it relates to area of responsibility.
• Plan and organize with minimal direction.
• Respect confidentiality of personnel and resident information.
• Demonstrated ability in self-evaluation and be self-motivated.

Hours

Weekends: Saturday and Sunday 5:30am – 9:30am. Either one person every weekend or two people every second weekend

Part-time hours: 8 per week
