The Warehouse Operations Manager will be a valuable member in contributing to SCI’s future. Supporting our Vipond location, this individual will be responsible for leading a functional group to achieve daily Service Level Agreements (SLA’s), operational objectives and in creating a collaborative team environment. The key accountabilities for this position include leadership, communication, developing people, planning and decision making to continuously improve standard operating procedures and overseeing the facility. Lastly, as a member of our core team, the right person for the role will be a leading example of our culture.

  • Lead all aspects of the operations performed in the facility to ensure daily SLA’s are achieved and align actions with the organizational goals
  • Identify and execute new opportunities and innovative solutions to further support sustainable business growth, client satisfaction and profitability
  • Support pricing initiatives/requests and support client on-boarding
  • Provide input and support for operational capability in new business opportunities
  • Propose solutions, processes and ideas that will result in more efficient production and reduction in costs
  • Executes on CI / Get Lean initiatives to ensure attainment of business plan for growth and profit.
  • Prepare/ manage operations budget and responsible for P&L accountability at the operating level to meet profit targets
  • Invest time in the development of staff and teams, through coaching and mentoring; elicits cooperation and engagement through persuasion rather than authority
  • Maximize productivity by effectively allocating available resources to successfully process the daily work volume
  • Measure and report the effectiveness of warehousing and dock activities and employees performance
  • Ensure shipment and inventory transaction accuracy
  • Effectively communicate all pertinent information regarding process changes, goals & objectives and operational results to employees through daily shift meetings
  • Comprehend and administer all relevant policies and procedures in a fair & consistent manner
  • Hands-on direction of all activities to ensure customer and corporate requirements are met
  • Ensure 100% adherence to SCI’s Quality Principals and Account specific standard operating procedures
  • Ensure Health and Safety practices are adhered to (e.g. coach team members on safe work practices, enforce company policies and procedures, and serve as a positive role model with respect to safe work practices)
  • Provide daily updates on receiving, shipping, issues and projects
  • Flexible working hours and scheduling is a requirement

What you bring to the role:

  • Post-secondary education and/or a combination of relevant experience and education
  • Minimum 5 years of manager experience or similar, preferably in a distribution environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with ability to develop and mentor team members
  • Previous experience using SAP and warehouse management systems; Logfire and TruckMate experience preferred
  • Strong service quality experience with specific measures and accomplishments
  • Proven experience in developing positive employee relations with an emphasis on creating a collaborate team environment
  • Ability to analyze, plan and manage resources effectively
  • Good proficiency using Microsoft office applications
  • Proven ability to direct and coordinate operations
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • You work through problems logically with a solutions-focused approach
  • You are an initiative-taker, who thinks proactively to continuously improve operations
  • You uphold yourself to the highest ethical standards in all activities undertaken
  • You are adaptable in your approach and prioritize with focus on what adds value to the client
