Scope of the Position:


As a manager, you’ll guide daily operations of the distribution center and ensure orders are distributed to the customer in an efficient and timely manner. Delegation will be important as you measure and account for performance throughout the warehouse. You’ll stay on top of shipping and receiving, and work with inventory to ensure processes are followed and adhered to.


It’s also your responsibility to hire, train, and protect your fellow employees: Uphold safety policies and keep a clean work environment for them.


More often than not, you’re focusing on those in your charge as much as you are your own tasks. It’s your job to be a fair and honest team motivator, a leader by example, and sometimes, a conflict mediator.


This is a morning shift reporting to the CDC Manager.


Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the Warehouse Supervisors, Warehouse Leads and Warehouse Associates to drive efficiency measures.
  • Flexible to work in various work zones such as Cutting, Picking, Shipping/Inventory, Receiving and Pick n Pack.
  • Liaising with customers, suppliers, transport companies, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Ensuring customer orders are timely and accurate with regard to receiving, picking, packing and shipping.
  • Maintaining documentation and keeping accurate records of warehouse activities (e.g., inventory adjustments).
  • Managing physical counts and/or cycle counts.
  • Ability to work on strategic and tactical levels with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Recruiting, training, and managing work schedules for warehouse associates. Providing ongoing formal and informal performance feedback to employees. Track team member productivity and provide training and support when necessary.
  • Providing productivity and efficiency reporting while maintaining overall optimal performance.
  • Resolving day to day personnel issues where management decisions are required.
  • Issuing lists of incoming items and shipments and handing them over to the receiving personnel.
  • Continuously monitoring and maintaining health and safety standards and initiatives.
  • Investigating accidents and troubleshooting problems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • University/College degree.
  • Courses in Logistics and/or Warehouse Management an asset.
  • 3-5 years of experience overseeing a warehouse or other large distribution facility. Previous experience in leading a team of direct reports an asset.
  • Previous experience in the wire and cable industry would be beneficial.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to build uncertainty and contingencies into decision-making, and ability to break down complex tasks and foster a solution-based environment.
  • Ability to operate a forklift effectively, previous/current Forklift Certification required.
  • Quick learner and highly proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and experience with Warehouse Management Systems (any platform).
  • People management skills, including the ability to explain ideas, delegate work, motivate, and lead and inspire members of the team.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required to meet client needs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Pass a background check.
  • Pass a physical test.
